Cecils Folly

This was our first time at Sunset Beach. I found the house to be perfect for our first trip on this beach. Plenty of room for my family of 5, we even had Grandma for a couple days. Each room had plenty of space to move around, unpack, hang clothes. The kitchen had plenty of pantry space. It was a perfect walk to the beach, quiet and peaceful, and an easy walk to the pier. There were two things that were not my favorite, but not deal breakers when it comes to staying here again. One - the showers were super narrow/small, think RV shower size. Two - the outdoor shower was not enclosed. Our family really enjoys an enclosed outdoor shower after a beach day. These were not deal breakers, but just something to know. I definitely recommend!

Cecil's Folley is a charming and peaceful getaway, full of character and thoughtful touches. The house is well-stocked, clean with a warm, welcoming vibe that made it easy to settle in and relax. We especially loved the quiet setting , it felt like a true escape from the everyday hustle.There are a couple of things to note: the showers are quite small, which made them a bit tricky to use comfortably, no enclosed outside shower with hot water and the beds weren�t the most comfortable for a full night�s sleep. That said, we enjoyed our stay and the overall experience.

Cecil's Folly is everything a beach house should be! Comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen, plenty of inside and outside seating and lots of jigsaw puzzles make for a good stay. One of the original cottages, built in 1952, it isn't ostentatious at all but rather a comfortable and cozy welcoming home.

Cecils Folly is a wonderful mixture of nostalgia and comfort. From outside, the house appears small but looks are often deceiving - the dining/living room is very spacious as are all of the bedrooms. The bathrooms are old school but very clean. The kitchen has new appliances, plenty of space and everything you need. I thought I would miss a screened-in porch but the back deck gets an amazing breeze from the ocean. It was great to watch the birds and to catch a glimpse of the deer in the dunes. We spent a lot of time relaxing and enjoying family time. The front porch is equally inviting. You can rinse off with the open shower on the deck but I do admit that the only thing I really missed was taking an outside shower. However, that one thing will not keep our family from returning... we will be back next year! Thank you to the owners for sharing this piece of Sunset Beach history with those of us that consider Sunset Beach our home away from home.

First time staying at Cecil's Folly; a classic beach house experience at Sunset; everyone really enjoyed the property including the updated kitchen with extra large refrigerator and counter space. All shared spaces and large bedrooms were well maintained; not far from beach access and close walk to pier/island shops.

The house was perfect for us. Reminded me of coming to Sunset as a child in the 70s and 80s, but with some tasteful upgrades. The deck was so nice in the mornings.

We love Cecil's Folly, this was our 2nd time staying here. It is very homey and welcoming. Easy access to the beach and peaceful!

It was a great vacation home. It is one of the older properties on the island but it has been well maintained and has a certain 1970's charm that is all but lost in most of the houses. It was clean and organized and had plenty of room and is located ocean front, which makes it great.

Cecil's Folly was a great place to stay! Good location, plenty to do nearby. Recommend renting bicycles for the week to move around the island and to go to the end of Bird Island. Closest beach was relatively quiet, and got quieter as you went further south toward bird Island

The house was exactly as pictured on the website. We had a wonderful stay, would definitely go back again!

My family vacation at Sunset Beach was great. We stayed at Cecils Folly and it was the perfect size for 4 adults and 2 children under the age of 3. The property wasn't far from a beach access walkway and the beach was not crowded at all. My favorite part about Sunset Beach is that it's not crowded at all and very quiet, but is only 30 minutes or so away from the attractions at Myrtle Beach.
